It turns out even moving 8 s bahn stops away can be stressful. We are now all settled into our new apartment and the new neighbourhood. We had a very busy week before Christmas with events at each kids school and final preperations for our holiday but since Christmas we have been pretty much relaxing and its been wonderful. Christmas was lovely and the kids and I have been enjoying the week off (L has to work.) We ate really well and pretty much cozied up for a few days.

December is flying by , as it always does, and it is hard to believe that next week is Christmas. We moved apartments today and are in a much nicer apartment in a new neighbourhood. While L did some last minute packing the kiddos and I went to pick out our tree and have it ready to throw in the moving van. The thought of hauling it 8 stops on the S Bahn wasn't that appealing. The move took approximately 90 minutes -the advantages of having very little- and as soon as we arrived the tree went up and shortly after that the kiddos made a ginger bread house- so we feel that although we got a late start we are all caught up on our holiday cheer.
It's been cold and wintery already in Maine and it's Christmas and I think we've all been feeling a bit homesick in our own ways. Here it's chilly and foggy and the one day that it snowed we later learned the snow was actually frozen steam from the factories. Oh well, snow is snow. But last week we went to another Christmas market and celebrated B's birthday and this week each kiddo has a Christmas party at school which will fun. The Christmas markets have officially begun and the kiddos and I braved the chilly weather to visit a medieval market not far from us. We also had a lovely visit from a good friend over the weekend and visited the Jewish Museum- which was really good. There is a special exhibit on Golem and we only made it through half of the permanent exhibition (we had dinner reservations to make)- grown ups really liked it B thought it was creepy. We ate well and despite frozen fingers and toes spent some time at the local flea market. I love how despite the cold we go out anyway. In Maine with our cozy big house we could easily spend a cold day inside- there was plenty of room and the wood stove (sigh) but in a cramped apartment you go out no matter what the weather and it's actually a good thing.
